Suzuki Burgman Street 125 BS-VI (Fi)
You don't
buy Suzuki Burgman because you needed a daily commuter or a everyday scooter.
You buy a Burgman because you are a worthy of a maxi scooter! You buy a Burgman because it carries the prefix Suzuki and you
buy The Burgman because, you are someone with feelings, emotions, maturity,
manner, skills & conduct and The Burgman helps you define those characters of you. And finally it goes by the name, Burgman (STREE)t. you see:
"ye stree hai, kuch bhi kar sakti hai." - and the lame joke award
goes to me :p
First of
all, it’s a maxi scooter having long touring abilities. With fluid maneuverability,
and peppy ride quality along with extra spacious foot rest coupled with large
storage space, it will
definitely help you cover that extra mile with a lot of ease and comfort and
that too without burning a hole in your pocket! How so? Mileage bro!
You can
easily expect a mileage of 45 to 50kmpl
depending upon your city or highway rides. And guess what. Its best in class.
The claimed mileage of Burgman
street bs6 variant is approx. 53.5kmpl
and has a fuel tank capacity of 5.5Ltrs. It would be good to note that it
has a under the seat fuel filling cap, which means you have to move your booty
from the well cushioned seat every time you want to fill up your tank. Right
now I am getting an average of 47kmpl. Well of course, the mileage solely
depends on your riding conditions.
Let's begin
with the comfort of the scooter and know why it's called a tourer. First thing
first; Storage space! 21.5ltrs under the
seat storage which can hold your half face helmet with ease or a small full
size helmet. I have a medium full size and a large half face helmet and both
fits fine in the under seat storage. It also consists of two small helmet hooks under the seat which will help you in
securing your helmet. A mobile charging
socket at the front and Glove box which can hold a single liter bottle
pretty well. The leg space is huge and the comfy extra long and wide seat not
only makes the driver comfortable but also takes in account the comfortness of
the pillion. The seat height is 780mm
and will suit anyone with height 5'4 feet and above. My height is 5'6 feet and
my both feet can touch the ground on each side simultaneously. It also consists
of two hooks in the foot space area for ease of carrying things. After all, you
will not only tour but also going to help in everyday household chores. Isn't it!
The seating
posture is straight and the detached handle bar from the head light helps in
great maneuverability and also its positioning is so which helps in keeping
your elbows straight, thus longer rides and less fatigue.
Having talked
about seat, handle bar, storage and seating posture, let's talk about its size,
engine, brakes and speed:
The scooter
is a head turner with its massive road presence and at the same time doesn't
feel at all bulky cutting through tight traffic. What more! One can easily ride at 70-80kmph without
straining the engine. The acceleration is linear though meaning the pickup is
not instant and gains momentum gradually but that does not mean you would be
stuck in traffic. The 124cc, air cooled,
single cylinder, 4 stroke Fuel injected bs6 engine is quite powerful and feels
smooth and responsive delivering enough juice to overtake bulky vehicles ahead.
Having said that, the engine feels most relaxed when cruising at speeds
anywhere above 50kmph right up to 85kmph. You can very well go above that and
if you want, can cruise at speeds up to 95kmph. It even reaches 3 digit figures
but one can feel the strain over the engine. Though it should not stop you from
reaching new speed milestones. It produces a
maximum power of 8.5bhp @ 6750rpm and maximum torque of 10Nm @ 5500rpm.
The braking
is quite efficient but it could have been better. The rear has 130mm drum brakes and the front is equipped with 170mm disc
brakes coupled with CBS(combined braking system) technology.
I guess I
had your attention so far. If you are still with me, you might pretty well be
interested in knowing some other features as well, namely: wheels, suspension
and overall dimensions.
Personally, I feel, the rear wheel could have
been little bigger. The front wheel is 90\90-12inch
tubeless alloys and rear is 90\90-10inch tubeless all alloy wheel. Smaller
wheels means no matter how good the suspension is, you are still bound to feel
the jerks when riding over bad roads and potholes. Having said that the
suspension is on the stiffer side which helps you in achieving better ride
quality by maintaining the stability at higher speeds but it comprises with its
off road riding capabilities. But surprisingly having a pillion improves its
ride quality over bad roads. Talking about the suspension, it has got telescopic front and swing arm rear
suspension.
Its overall weight is 110kg and gives a decent 160mm ground clearance
and consists of all LED Tail, Head and
indicator lights.
Now comes
my favorite part: its instrument cluster. Neat and clean, sophisticated and
premium. Giving all information needed for the ride. The instrument cluster is
really well laid out giving you a sturdy and premium feeling. The no-nonsense
Instrument console. It consists of;
A clock, an Odometer, 2 Trip meters, Fuel gauge,
Speedometer along with low fuel warning, engine malfunction warning light, oil
change warning, turn indicator and high beam indicator light, a voltmeter and yes, the bs6 variant does comes with an
Engine Kill Switch.
Great minds
worked behind the ignition switch/key slot chamber as well. Single key slot provides
4 functions, namely, ON, OFF,HANDLE LOCK, OPENING SEAT LOCK. And the good thing
is, there is a key hole shutter button which makes it a little more theft proof
as others won't be able to fiddle with your key hole.
A Conclusion from an owner:
I have rode my maxi scooter for 485km before my
first service. And my experience was pretty sweet. I rode mostly at 40kmph and
few times cruised at 80kmph over long stretch of highways. Longest ride I took
without break is 90km and never felt a hint of fatigue. The acceleration could
have been more powerful because the engine is capable but you just don't feel
that power. Again, it’s a cruiser in class and keeping that in thought coupled
with plush ride quality, the linear acceleration is well justified.
I
guess I have covered almost all topics regarding The Suzuki Burgman Street 125
Bs6 Fi Variant.
