GMDSS - A complete guide for clearing Exams

GMDSS Indian exam held in two parts ie. written and oral
You have to clear written to appear for orals

Written consists of two parts
1. Objective = 30 marks
2, Subjective = 30 marks

Minimum passing is 50% in each.

Once you are done with  written next part comes RT communication exam (you will be taught in your center)
Note = while giving RT exam its of utmost importance to write 'ON WATCH ' Its time and signature.
(u all will be taught about this)
RT is of 30 marks. If you failed to mention on watch, you will get zero out of thirty.

Once you are done with your RT, its time for your orals and practicals.

There will be total 3 orals (includes practicals)

1. WPC CHIEF EXAMINER = 30 marks
2. WPC ASSISTANT EXAMINER = 20 marks
3. DG EXAMINER (ORALS AND PRACTICALS) = 20 marks. (10 marks oral 10 marks practical)

ORALS + RT = 100 MARKS
70 is passing marks.
(RT is scoring. try to bring full marks in it)

(Do not solely depend on this for clearing your exams. A thorough knowledge of the book is highly recommended for clearing your orals.

9. When we log out SAT C equipment

12. Can we(from ship) send information through CSC.
13. Send a distress message from SAT C.
14. Send a distress message from SAT B.
15. If a ship is in distress and you are RCC and you got the distress alert from that ship, then what you as an RCC will do.?
To who all you will send the distress relay alert?


WPC ASSISTANT EXAMINER

1. Identify the equipments.
2. Learn all about propagation, modulation, antenna.
3. How many channels are there in VHF
4. On which frequency AIS works.
5. What is AGC
6. What is Dummy load
7. From where you will get the VHF channel on which coast station is working
8. Set up the MF/HF RT equipment to communicate on 12MHZ band
9. Learn all the frequencies.
10. What is space, ground and sky wave propagation


DG EXAMINER

ORALS.
1. How will you test EPIRB
2. How will you test SART
3. What will you do if you sent a false distress alert on EPIRB
4. What will you do if you sent a falst distress alert on VHF
5. What are the tests of VHF GMDSS W/T

PRACTICALS
1. Send a routine alert to ship station albert R on MF
2. Send a routine alert to coast station in Belgium on MF
3. Set navtex station in Belgium
4. Send a Distress alert.
5. Send an urgency alert to a coast station.
6. Send Jasrep.
